Alexander Wolff will screen and comment on images from The Audacity of Hoop at Dana Auditorium on the Middlebury College campus during a program called "'Improvisation Within a Discipline': A Discussion on Basketball, Barack Obama and Our Times." He will be joined by four respondents: Middlebury faculty members Matthew Dickinson, a political scientist and presidential scholar; Rachael Joo, an Americanist who studies sport and society; and Jim Ralph, a civil rights historian; as well as independent scholar Claude Johnson, who founded Baller-in-Chief.com, a Web site devoted to Obama and basketball, and currently serves as executive director of the Black Fives Foundation. There will be plenty of time for audience questions and discussion, and afterward the Vermont Book Shop will sell copies for signing. Dana Auditorium can be found right on Route 125 on campus, in the Sunderland Language Center building.
